Smooth Affair Illuminating Glow is a moisturising primer rather than a silicone film alone: glycerin and sodium hyaluronate hold water, squalane, shea and coconut oil supply lipids, and a blend of silicone powders fills pores and fine lines so light scatters off a smoother surface. Mica and titanium dioxide add a pearl that reads as lit-from-within rather than glitter.

Why it matters under minerals

Mineral powder foundation sits best on skin with some slip and moisture. This gives PurePressed Base something to grip, evens the way the powder takes, and keeps it from looking dry by afternoon.

The fit

The glow primer. Smooth Affair Brightening is its matte-leaning sibling for dull or uneven tone; this one is for dry or lacklustre skin that wants radiance under or instead of foundation.

Worth knowing

Vegan, wheat-free and cruelty-free. Silicone-based, so very oily or congestion-prone skin may prefer a lighter primer. A pea-sized amount covers the face; more does not add glow, it adds slip.

Mornings, after serum and sunscreen have set: warm a pea-sized amount between fingers and press over the face, or only where you want light, cheekbones and brow bone. Let it settle for a minute, then apply foundation.

Worn alone it gives a sheer, luminous finish on a no-makeup day.
