Collagen-signal peptide

Palmitoyl Tripeptide-38

INCI name Palmitoyl Tripeptide-38
Function Collagen-signal peptide
Pregnancy Suitable
UV sensitivity Not photosensitising

A three-amino-acid peptide bound to a fatty acid for skin penetration, designed as a messenger rather than a building block.

How it works

The peptide mimics a fragment of the proteins that signal dermal repair. Research associates it with increased markers of collagen I, III and IV and other matrix components in skin models — the basis of its use in firmness-focused formulas, often alongside vitamin C, whose role in collagen synthesis is complementary.

Tolerability

Signal peptides are well tolerated with no photosensitising effect.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

No established concerns at topical cosmetic levels; conventionally considered suitable.
