Soothing agent (Adaptogen)

Albatrellus Mushroom Extract

INCI name Albatrellus Confluens (Mushroom) Extract
Function Soothing agent (Adaptogen)
Pregnancy Suitable
UV sensitivity Not photosensitising

An extract of the Albatrellus confluens mushroom, used in skincare for its soothing constituents, principally grifolin.

How it works

Research associates grifolin with quieting the skin’s sensory nerve responses — the pathways behind the sensations of stinging, heat and reactive discomfort. This makes the extract a fit for products aimed at stressed, easily-upset skin rather than any visible-change claim.

Tolerability

Well tolerated; mushroom allergy is rare but a reasonable patch-test prompt for known sufferers.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

No established concerns at topical cosmetic levels; conventionally considered suitable.
