Gentle Cleanser

Cream, not foam

Built on an emollient-rich surfactant system rather than a foaming one, so it removes makeup, sunscreen and the day's build-up without pulling the lipids out of the barrier. The finish is soft and clean rather than squeaky.

The comfort bench

Allantoin soothes, glycerin and propanediol hold water in the skin, and a trace of glycolic acid keeps the surface smooth without any real exfoliating sting.

The scent

Fragranced with orange peel oil, which is where the fresh scent comes from. It is a deliberate part of the formula and worth knowing about if citrus oils are a trigger for you.

Dry, dehydrated, sensitive and sensitised skin that finds gel and foaming cleansers too stripping; mature skin wanting a cream cleanse; and anyone on retinoids or vitamin C who needs the cleansing step to be the gentle one.

Worth knowing

Contains orange peel oil and limonene. If you have a known citrus or fragrance allergy, Simply Clean is also fragranced, so look to a fragrance-free cleanser from the range instead. Suitable during pregnancy.

Morning and evening: massage a small amount over damp face and neck, then rinse with lukewarm water and pat dry.

Follow with serums and moisturiser.

Use alongside

C E Ferulic in the morning, Triple Lipid Restore 2:4:2 or the Retinol night creams in the evening, and Phyto Corrective Gel on reactive days. It has no actives that clash with anything in the range.
