The filter architecture

Five modern UV filters share the work, including the Mexoryl pair developed in L'Oréal's own laboratories and rarely licensed beyond them, with titanium dioxide adding a mineral floor. The result is broad-spectrum SPF50+ coverage across UVA and UVB in a facial texture rather than a beach one.

Made to sit under things

It behaves like skincare: a light cream that settles comfortably, layers over serums without pilling and sits cleanly under makeup, so the final step stops being the skipped step.

The daily argument

UV exposure is the largest external driver of visible skin ageing, and every serum upstream of this one performs better when this step actually happens. Daily SPF is where the rest of the routine's investment is defended.

Every skin that finishes its morning outdoors-bound, and particularly routines built on actives: vitamin C mornings, retinoid and acid programs, and pigment work, all of which assume this step is present.

Worth knowing

Fragrance-free. Sunscreen is one part of sun protection: wear protective clothing, a hat and sunglasses, seek shade, and avoid prolonged sun exposure. Always read the label and follow the directions for use.

Apply generously to face, ears and neck 20 minutes before sun exposure, as the final skincare step. Reapply every two hours, and after swimming, sweating or towelling.

Under makeup, allow a few minutes to set before anything else goes on.
