An eye cream built around 0.06% encapsulated retinaldehyde buffered in shea, squalane and ceramide NP, the step-up strength of the eye ladder. Contains retinal; not for use during pregnancy.

When to use Evenings, eye area, alternate nights when stepping up
How it works

The eye ladder's second rung

Double the retinaldehyde of Ceramide Eye 3, cyclodextrin correspondingly higher in the formula, in the identical buffered architecture: shea, squalane, phytosterols and ceramide NP with free linoleic acid feeding the orbital area's thin barrier while the encapsulation meters the retinal out overnight.

Same comfort bench

Bisabolol, hyaluronic acid, and the carotenoid trio of red fruit, carrot seed and cloudberry oils. Fragrance-free, like its sibling, the eye versions carry no scent by design.

The step-up logic

For eye areas that have finished a tube of Eye 3 without complaint, or face-ladder veterans at Crystal Retinal 6 and above whose orbital skin is already retinoid-adapted. Strength is earned at the eyes twice over.

Who it suits

Graduates of Ceramide Eye 3, and experienced retinoid users whose eye area kept pace with their face, deeper expression lines wanting the committed dose.

Worth knowing

Not for use during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Step up gently: alternate nights for the first fortnight, and expect possible mild dryness as the dose settles. Keep to the orbital bone. The peptide route (Youth Eye Complex) remains the alternative for vitamin-A avoiders.

How to use

Evenings: a rice-grain amount patted around the orbital bone with the ring finger. Alternate nights for a fortnight when stepping up from Eye 3, then nightly as tolerated.

High SPF and sunglasses every morning.

Layering

Use alongside

The upper rung of the two-step eye ladder, Eye 3 to start, Eye 6 when earned, holding the retinoid seat of the eye chair beside Youth Eye Complex (peptides), C Eye Serum (morning C) and Opti Crystal (luxury copper). Runs the same nights as a face retinal comfortably; the doses are calibrated separately.

Before you start

Not suitable if

  • You are pregnant
  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding — contains retinaldehyde
  • Do not layer with leave-on acids or other retinoids at the eye area
  • Step up from Ceramide Eye 3 — not a first retinoid for the eye area

Good to know

  • Patch test on a small area of skin before first full use
  • Increases skin sensitivity to UV. Use broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher daily
