Sale price$89.00

A bakuchiol serum offering retinol-adjacent renewal support without vitamin A, suitable where retinoids are not.

When to use Morning and/or evening, after cleansing
How it works

Not a retinoid, that is the point

Bakuchiol comes from the babchi plant and shares no chemistry with vitamin A. Yet comparative research has associated it with similar visible improvements in fine lines and tone to retinol over twelve weeks, at lower rates of dryness and irritation, apparently by influencing overlapping skin pathways through a different door.

What that unlocks

No retinisation period, no photosensitivity, it can be worn morning and night, and none of the retinoid restrictions. It is the option for skin, and life stages, where retinoids are excluded.

The base

A deliberately short formula: sunflower, jojoba and squalane carry the bakuchiol, with vitamin E and the Ayurvedic botanicals, neem, turmeric, holy basil, bhringraj, in support.

Setting expectations

Like retinol, bakuchiol is a twelve-week story, not a two-week one. Consistency is the active ingredient behind the active ingredient.

Who it suits

Skin that wants smoothing and tone work but cannot or prefers not to use retinoids, including sensitive skin that never adjusted to them. Also a daytime companion to an evening retinoid for the committed.

Worth knowing

Conventionally considered suitable during pregnancy and breastfeeding, confirm with your clinician as part of your own plan. Contains bhringraj, a daisy-family plant; patch test with a known Asteraceae allergy.

How to use

Morning and/or evening, press four to five drops into clean skin before or instead of moisturiser.

No SPF-mandated-by-this-product caveat, though daily sunscreen remains the foundation of any results you want to keep.

Layering

Use alongside

Everything, bakuchiol has no known conflicts with acids, vitamin C or niacinamide, and layers under moisturiser and SPF cleanly.

It can even share a routine with a retinoid at the opposite end of the day, for skin chasing maximum smoothing.

Before you start

Not suitable if

  • Asteraceae (daisy family) allergy — contains bhringraj
