Feeding the right residents

Alpha-glucan oligosaccharide is a prebiotic, a plant-derived sugar the skin’s beneficial surface bacteria metabolise more readily than problematic ones, tilting the ecosystem in the right direction. It is the opposite half of the strategy to Harmonize’s postbiotic lysate: one feeds the community, the other delivers its useful signals.

The clay-cream essence

Unusually for a sheet mask, the essence is a bentonite-and-oil cream rather than a watery serum, the clay gently draws while coconut, camelina, sweet almond and sunflower oils feed lipids back, so the mask purifies and nourishes in the same sitting.

The water layer

Glycerin and sodium hyaluronate hold water at the surface, with vitamin E as the antioxidant.

The scent

A natural fragrance with limonene, citronellol and linalool declared, noted below for fragrance-sensitive skin.

A weekly reset for skin that runs reactive or unbalanced, and the ritual companion to Harmonize for anyone taking the microbiome route. Comfortable for normal, dry and combination skin.

Worth knowing

Contains sweet almond oil, avoid with a tree-nut allergy, and a natural fragrance with three declared allergens. Very congestion-prone skin may prefer to keep coconut-oil-rich formulas off the face and reach for Pure Enzymes as its weekly mask instead.

Once or twice a week on clean, dry skin: unfold the mask, smooth over the face, and relax for 15–20 minutes. Remove and massage the remaining essence in, no rinse. Follow with moisturiser.
